In the 10-th week (04-03 – 10-03) an average procurement price of wheat, fixed by the grain procurement companies, was 848,9 Lt/t, i.e. by 1,2  % up to 714,6 Lt/t more than a month ago. (04-02 – 10-02)

According to the EU Commission 28 February, 2013 report, it is expected that oily plants cultivation areas will increase by 4,7 per cent in 2013. In terms of the total amount 8,7 per cent will be shown for rape , 15,2 per cent for soy, although sunflowers could show 1,8 per cent reduction.

According to the European Commission data, the EU-27 exported more of some types milk commodities to the third countries in  2012, compared to 2011. The most significant growth was shown in terms of condensed milk (282,26 thousand tonnes) and  776,40 thousand tonnes  of cheese, i.e. by 18,1 and  13,6 per cent more than in  2011.

According to preliminary data, in 2012 the USA figures showed 90,85  m tonnes of total raw milk production, i.e. by  2,1  per cent more than in 2011. Amount of cheese ( including fresh ones)  production  in the USA in the end of 2012 was 4,93 thousand tonnes, i.e. by 2,5  per cent more than in 2011. In the USA in the end of 2012 reserves of cheese showed 448,08 thousand tonnes – by 4,9 per cent more than in 2011. Amount of cheese import was 81,52 thousand tonnes – by 10,4 per cent more than in 2011 and amounted for 60,1 per cent of annual cheese import quota.

Due to increased demand and insufficient supply prices for urea showed little increase in January, 2013.

A rapid reduction of urea prices since April, 2012 has been obvious for three months. It is only the end of July when a slight growth seemed to be shown.  Today it is difficult to predict how long the trend of increase could remain, but in the end of July price of  Nola (USA) increased from  435 to 445 USD/t (1 221–1 250 Lt/t) FOB, while shipments for August were booked by even 450 USD/t (1 264 Lt/t) FOB.

Year 2012 was the most active in terms of transferred agricultural land in Lithuania. The mentioned period showed the following transferred amounts: 174,4 thousand ha private agricultural land, i.e. only  1,7 per cent lower than in 2006 and by 7,5 per cent than in the most active  2007, while activity for the second half was the highest of all history.

An increasing demand of agricultural land market in 2011 has caused a 12,1 increase in transferred land areas and a significant growth in land sale and rent prices.

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee on July 18 passed a draft bill that would establish permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) with Russia, the world’s sixth largest economy.

The following growth of harvest was noticed in 2011(compared to year 2010): 15 per cent for grain, 75 per cent for outdoors vegetables, 23 per cent for potatoes, 24 per cent for beetroot and 16 per cent for rape.
