Agrowill Group companies join Association of Agricultural Companies

Agricultural companies owned by Agrowill Group have become members of the Lithuanian Association of Agricultural Companies. Agrowill Group companies were admitted or renewed membership at a congress of the Association of Agricultural Companies in July this year.

“Agrowill Group companies see membership in the Association as an opportunity to improve the conditions for their activities together with other agricultural companies and assume responsibility for the development of agriculture in Lithuania. Our group companies, just like other companies in this sector, encounter various problems and want to actively contribute to their constructive solution,” Valentas Šulskis, General Manager of Agrowill Group, said.

He emphasised that the problems must be solved together rather than individually:  only by joining forces it is possible to achieve that farmers’ positions are properly represented both at Lithuanian and European Union level, that farmers’ arguments are heeded by relevant public authorities, and that funds allocated by the European Union are used better and faster. 

The head of the company believes that the country lacks a clear agricultural policy and that relations with product processors are complicated. “The development of Lithuanian agricultural companies is often hindered by very slow settlement of issues of rational use of land required for modern farms.  We must seek to ensure that funds allocated for the preparation of land consolidation projects are primarily used for the management of advanced farms,” Šulskis said. In his words, dairy sector and milk purchase price-related problems must be resolved without delay.

The Lithuanian Association of Agricultural Companies embraces over 150 agricultural, private limited companies, cooperatives, agro-firms and other companies. Farmers participate in the Association’s activities as well.

The main objective of the Association is to seek to ensure normal economic, legal, financial and market conditions for farmers to farm.
