Agrowill Group farms get heifers from Germany

Employees of Agrowill Group Animal Production Services Division, a manager of Šiaulių Regiono Veislininkystė (Šiauliai Region Breeding) and the selection programme supervisor of the Lithuanian Green Association have met with RSH representatives in charge of breeding from Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein.  
During their visit, they selected a total of 68 heifers from 25 farms keeping from 30 to 150 dairy cows yielding an average of 9,000 kg of milk per lactation (305 days).
At the end of March, the purchased heifers were grouped by breed and brought to Lithuania. Black-and-white cows were transported to Jurbarkas and red-and-white cows were sent to Nausodė.  
They are planned to calve in July-August. Later, the heifers will produce fresh milk and are expected to improve the overall quality of farm milk, which would help earn more money.
