Agrowill Group gets new leadership
On 1 December 2008, the Board of Agrowill Group, the largest agricultural investment and development company in the Baltic states, elected Gediminas Žiemelis as the new Chairman of the Board. It also approved Mindaugas Juozaitis as the new General Manager of the company.
On 28 November, the Supervisory Board of Agrowill Group approved a new composition of the Board. Valentas Šulskis and Robertas Čepaitis, who had decided to develop their professional activities in other areas, were replaced by: Mindaugas Juozaitis, who controls more than 5% of Agrowill Group shares, and Vladas Bagavičius, the company’s lawyer.
“The objective of Agrowill Group is to increase the value of its companies by using advanced management methods and innovative solutions. However, when the banks offered loans at affordable prices, Agrowill orientated itself to the acquisition of new companies,” Ramūnas Audzevičius, a member of the Supervisory Board, said. In his words, taking account of the situation in the financial markets, the Supervisory Board has recommended that the company postpone new acquisitions for some time and concentrate on efficiency improvement in production as well as achieve at least 60–70% production infrastructure potential.
According to Juozaitis, clear and accurate plans of the company regarding personnel management and cost reduction are planned to be presented and the efficiency of dairy and crop farms will be boosted in the nearest future. In the opinion of the new head of the company, the economic slowdown will not have a significant effect on the company’s activities as people will always need its products, i.e. grain and milk.
