Experienced dairy sector expert from the Netherlands joins Agrowill Group

2008-12-19

Teun Sleurink, an experienced dairy industry expert from the Netherlands, today took office as Director of the Technology Department of Agrowill Group, the largest agricultural investment and development company in the Baltic states. The new head of the Technology Department will have to fulfil the task of substantially reforming the activities of dairy companies and increasing the efficiency of Agrowill dairy farms by up to 40% in a year and a half.

“The coming of an experienced specialist to manage the efforts to increase the efficiency of agricultural companies is one of the key conditions for organising animal care, keeping and cow milking procedures anew,” Mindaugas Juozaitis, General Manager of Agrowill Group, said. In his words, the company expects to successfully use the extensive international experience acquired by Teun Sleurink in the Netherlands and the US in implementing the company’s strategic objectives.

Teun Sleurink, a 45-year-old graduate of the Dutch Agricultural University, has gathered dairying organisation experience at his parents’ farm. He had combined the functions of a milk production manager and an internal consultant for seven years after graduating from the university. Before coming to Lithuania, in the past 15 years, Sleurink had worked as an independent milk production consultant in different US farms.  Sleurink came to Lithuania in 2007 as an independent milk production consultant.

Before joining Agrowill Group, Sleurink carried out a comprehensive operating analysis of the dairy companies of Agrowill Group and presented exhaustive recommendations as to what specific steps should be taken in order to achieve maximum efficiency in each specific case. Organisation of work according to the recommendations presented by the expert has increased milk yields by 10%.  Upon substantial restructuring of all animal care, feeding, grazing and cow milking processes, average milk yields in dairy companies are expected to be increased from current 5 tons to 7 tons.

On the first working day at Agrowill Group, Sleurink said: “I am glad to join the largest group of agricultural companies in the Baltic states. I am convinced that the established ambitious objectives are real and attainable. From my previous experience, I can say that improvement of results is mostly influenced by people’s ability to change their attitude towards the process of performance of ordinary work. Having quite good knowledge of each farm’s situation, I believe that together we can achieve good results.” The foreign expert said he saw a lot of internal reserves for the improvement of activities and was ready to consistently introduce up-to-date dairy sector technologies.
