Professional from Denmark to manage crop production sector of Agrowill Group

2009-01-06

At the start of 2009, Linne Fromm-Christiansen, an experienced agronomist from Denmark, took office as the head of the crop production sector at Agrowill Group, the largest agricultural investment and development company in the Baltic states. She has been entrusted with implementing an ambitious objective of increasing the operating efficiency of the crop production sector by 35% in two years.
Linne Fromm-Christiansen who has acquired professional knowledge of agriculture management at Denmark’s Aarhus University has gathered practical experience by working at her parents’ farm since her childhood. Having completed her studies and recognised as “Best Agricultural Manager” in 2003, Linne Fromm-Christiansen received invitations to manage other farms. Despite her young age, the 27-year-old agronomist has accumulated very valuable experience while working at Denmark’s Frijsenborg Landbrug as well as during modernisation of Danish capital farms in Slovakia and Russia. Linne Fromm-Christiansen can operate any type of machinery used in crop production, from a tractor to the most modern combine. In addition to her mother tongue Danish, she knows English, German and Russian well.  Before accepting the proposal of Agrowill Group to head the crop production sector, Linne Fromm-Christiansen had worked in Slovak agricultural companies for three years and in Russian agricultural companies controlled by foreign investors for two years.  In the expert’s opinion, the set task of increasing crop yields in Agrowill Group-owned farms by more than a third can be achieved through modern management of land plots and effective use of machinery available at the farms.
Mindaugas Juozaitis, General Manager of Agrowill Group, links the coming of the new specialist with implementation of important objectives: “We associate the coming of the experienced specialist in agronomy with the sharing of up-to-date knowledge and experience. We share the same opinion that agricultural holdings in Lithuania have a lot of unused internal resources. Therefore, we will work hand in hand to increase the efficiency of crop farms in a quick and tangible manner.”
“Application of my knowledge in a company controlling more than 30,000 hectares of farmland is an important professional challenge, but I see all conditions necessary to implement the set objectives,” Linne Fromm-Christiansen said. According to the expert, land fertility can be significantly increased by combining technical equipment available to different companies, cultivating plots of land according to the latest agricultural requirements, using modern management systems and IT solutions.

In an effort to increase the profitability of its agricultural companies, Agrowill Group has prepared a comprehensive dairy and crop production sector efficiency improvement programme, which includes introduction of new solutions in milk production, reduction of the cost of products and boosting of competitiveness, upgrading and more efficient use of technical facilities, as well as staff competence development. The company gives much attention to the use of up-to-date foreign experience – Teun Sleurink, an experienced dairy sector expert from the Netherlands, took office as Director of the Technology Department of Agrowill Group three weeks ago.
